Dr. Balog graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania and from Penn State University College of Medicine, Hershey, Pennsylvania. He served his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He has been practicing orthopedic surgery in this area since 1986.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society, the American Medical Association and the Dauphin County Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and Phi Beta Kappa.

He resides in Hummelstown with his wife, Kim, and their two children Sarah and Alex.
