A native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Dr. Himmelwright received degrees from Penn State University as well as the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency locally at Pinnacle Health System. He practiced for seven years in northeastern Pennsylvania and New York before joining OIP in January of 2007.

Dr. Himmelwright has privileges at Holy Spirit Hospital, Pinnacle Health System and Grandview Surgery and Laser Center.

While Dr. Himmelwright practices general orthopedics, he has a special interest in total joint replacement as well as surgery of the neck and back. When appropriate, he is able to offer his patients several surgical options including, but not limited to:

• kyphoplasty (minimally invasive technique for the treatment of compression fractures of the spine)

• Gender specific/stature specific total knee replacement and the minimally invasive Medial Pivot total knee replacement both from Wright Medical

• Minimally invasive PATH (Percutaneous Assisted Total Hip) technique using Wright Medical BFH (big femoral head) modular components

• Synthes Pro Disc-C for treatment of degenerative disc disease of the cervical spine

He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopedics, the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. He also serves as Chief Operating Officer at Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania.

He is active in the community having done several outreach programs through Holy Spirit Hospital as well as making local TV appearances. He resides in Lewisberry with his wife Kimberly.
